My Transformational Summer as an Intern at NetWorkWise

This is a guest post by NetWorkWise intern Ariana Goitz

My summer as an intern at NetWorkWise was instrumental in accelerating my personal and professional development, giving me the experience of working closely with the CEO, executing a social media campaign, and mastering my own networking skills through their training program and becoming a NetWorkWise Certified Professional. This experience was valuable in many ways, opening my eyes to the hidden job market and the opportunities that having strong networks provides.

The certification course especially taught me useful techniques for building connections on LinkedIn using personalized invitations, crafting an elevator pitch, following up after meetings, connecting with new people at events, and building strong relationships. By taking part in the 30-day gratitude challenge, I grew in my own relationships, expressing gratitude towards one person in my network each day. Overall, it gave me a new mindset in the way I interact with people in everyday life. One of the biggest changes is that I now approach new connections with the mindset of how I can provide value to them, instead of what they can do for me.

This internship challenged me in many ways, personally and professionally. First off, Adam asked me to come up with the main tasks of my internship, challenging me to think about how I could provide value to the company. Puzzled at first, I researched the company and its content and came up with a business plan, and executed the launch of their TikTok account.

Over the course of the 3 months, I ran the account, posted 3 videos per day, generated new video ideas, researched social media marketing strategies, and sought advice from experts in the field. I was able to analyze our data and identify our target audience. I made continual adjustments to improve viewer experience such as shortening videos, making more interesting hooks, and sharing personal experiences to build trust with the viewers. I launched several campaigns including “Don’t just network, NetWorkWise” and #AskAdam. The account created value for the company by discovering, engaging with, and onboarding potential new clients. I realized the value of analyzing data, making changes, and capitalizing on successes, which yielded an 820% growth in our audience and engagement.

By the end of the internship, I felt fulfilled by my role in executing a social media launch for NetWorkWise and the milestones that we accomplished. I also wrote the description of my job for future candidates which felt like a full-circle moment.

Throughout the summer, I was also able to explore my own career aspirations, and I discovered that I like working in a more flexible environment as opposed to a traditional office. I was able to learn about the entrepreneurial field during my visit and interview with Adam, which was eye-opening to a different kind of lifestyle that I find exciting. This internship not only gave me the experience of working for a start-up, launching a social media campaign, writing weekly standups, and communicating daily with the CEO and other employees but allowed me to become certified in the art and science of networking and develop as a person and professional.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with the team at NetWorkWise, and I would recommend their certification program to anyone looking to level up personally and professionally and tap into a new mindset that will open doors to many opportunities.
